DescriptionWe dove the Hilma Hooker on this day, specifally to take a photo of this Goliath Grouper [Epinephelus itajara]. We'd spotted him the day before, but a camera lens problem prevented me from taking a good picture of him. Today he was resting on the bottom, about half way between the stern and bow, close to the second reef. We'd decided on a conservative O2pp, so as we got closer, my dive computer started beeping a warning. I was a little over 100ft and diving 32% Nitrox. Melanie came down with me, but stayed a few feet up, closer to the reef. She took a few photos of me, taking photos of the grouper. A pair of Ramoras rested on the sand just behind the grouper, ready to reattach should the grouper decide to move.
