DescriptionA fan of Branching Vase Sponge [Callyspongia vaginalis] in Bonaire. This sponge is usually found in clusters of a few to 20 or 30 tubes. Colors vary from lavender (shown here), to brownish gray, to greenish gray, and occasionally light tan. Vase and fan shapes can be found in areas of strong current and/or sedimentation. The sponge has thin, stiff-walled tubes with irregular conical projections.
