DescriptionA Tube-Dwelling Anemone, possibly the Banded or Wideband variety. They are nocturnal, and inhabit areas of sand and coral rubble. The solitary polyps extend from a parchment-like tube buried in sand.
They are known to retract in the sand when illuminated by a diver's light. Since our dive lights are so strong (Halcyon Helios 9, 18watt HIDs), they can attract many tiny creatures, as they did here. I think the anemone was more concerned about grabbing all the food, then it was of hiding. :-)
